Arafa’s business dates back to 1907, when Abdel Maksoud Arafa established fabric retail stores in the Nile Delta region. After many years in the Delta, Arafa moved its fabric retail operations to Cairo to increase visibility and take advantage of the growing urban market. The business continued to expand steadily from 1907; and in 1982, the late Mr. Ahmed Arafa founded Goldentex for Wool, which operates in textile production from raw materials to finished products. Following the passing of Mr. Ahmed Arafa, his two sons, Engineer Ashraf Arafa and Dr. Alaa Arafa, continued to develop and expand the family business as manufacturers of fabrics and garments, as well as in retail.
